Accredited Senior Appraiser, American Society of Appraisers
Experience
Pamela Bensoussan has over thirty five years experience in the world of decorative and fine arts. Her career has included a ten-year residence in Paris where she managed a gallery on the rue de L'Universite in the famous Carre Rive Gauche. During this period she also worked as consultant to a Parisian auction house and as archivist for an international art investment firm based in Switzerland. In 1981 Ms. Bensoussan co-curated an important exhibition in Boulogne-Billancourt near Paris, which brought together for the first time many unknown and unpublished early Oriental carpets from the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, the Louvre, and private French collections. While in France she worked as the French Editor for HALI, the London-based journal of antique rugs and textiles and she studied the history of French furniture and European tapestries. In the U.S. Ms. Bensoussan has owned and operated galleries in San Francisco and San Diego. She has authored many articles and gives lectures on topics ranging from connoisseurship and the arts to historic preservation. Retired from the marketplace Ms. Bensoussan is a Senior Member of American Society of Appraisers and now works full time at her appraisal practice. Her office is located in the Historic Greg Rogers House in Chula Vista, California (San Diego County) where she serves on the Resource Conservation Commission.
